Mary Foley

Mary Foley of Le Sueur, age 85, died Thursday morning, January 7, 2016 at St. Therese of New Hope, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 10, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, MN, beginning with a C.C.W. Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and then continuing until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. until about 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 11, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Church in Le Sueur. Burial will be in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Le Sueur. Mary was born on March 9, 1930 in Scott County, MN, to Emil and Ruth (Krosche) Bratsch. She was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Henderson, and confirmed at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur. She attended St. Anne's grade school and graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1947. She attended St. Benedict's College for a year, then began employment as a secretary for John F. McGovern at Green Giant in Le Sueur from 1947 -1954. She married Ambrose Foley at St. Anne's Catholic Church on September 5, 1953. Mary later worked for the Arthur E. Anderson Law Office in Le Sueur and then for the City of Le Sueur in the Housing and Redevelopment Authority, retiring in 1992. Mary was very active in St. Anne's Church, St. Anne's C.C.W, St. Anne's Choir, St. Anne's Cemetery Association, St. Anne's School Endowment and the Minnesota Valley Hospital Association, for which she served as Treasurer for 10 years. In 1996 Mary began spending her winters in Mesa, AZ. Mary especially enjoyed walking, playing cards, needlework, reading, cooking, traveling and visiting with friends and relatives. Memorials are preferred to the Patrons of St. Anne's School Endowment. Mary is survived by three daughters: Jeanne Foley of Menomonie, WI; Patti (Perry) Good of Minnetrista, MN; and Terri Foley of Edina, MN. She also has two grandchildren: Jamie (Matt) Engelmann and Jason (Lindsay) Good; four great-grandchildren: Abby and Johnny Engelmann, and Betsy and Jane Good; four siblings: Nancy (Bill) Hix of Montgomery, MN; Carol (Vern) Bombardier of Brainerd, MN,; Jim (Kay) Bratsch of Lakeville, MN; and Ray (Monica) Bratsch of Tyron, N.C. Mary is also survived by her beloved cousin Lorna Jones, as well as many other cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose, in 1992.
