Mary Eileen Herd

Mary "Eileen" Herd, age 81 of Green Isle, died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on Friday, January 26 at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Green Isle. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Thursday, January 25 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and will continue Friday morning one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Eileen was born on February 24, 1936 to Thomas and Irene (Berger) O'Neil in Washington Lake Township. She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1953 and then attended MSU in Mankato for two years. She married Donald Herd on September 7, 1957 at St. Brendan's in Green Isle. She did daycare out of her home for 21 years. She enjoyed watching all sports. Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren grow up, and attending all of their sporting events. Eileen was especially delighted she got to spend time with her first great-grandchild. She also loved to be out and about socializing with her many friends and neighbors. Eileen is survived by her sons, John (Marneé) Herd of Alexandria, and James (Lisa) Herd of Waconia; daughter-in-law, Kris Herd of Gaylord; grandchildren, Drake (Ivy) Herd, Reid (Hannah) Herd, Shaneé Herd, Zach Herd, Lucas (fiancée, Emily Franzen) Herd, Jacob Herd and Adam Herd; great-grandson, Hudson Herd; siblings, Marge (Gene) Herd of Green Isle, and Patrick (Konnie) O'Neil of Cambridge; sister in law, Mervan "Sis" Dressen of Fort Dodge, IA; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don in '01; son, Mike "Whitey" Herd in '13; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clarence Jr. and Karen Herd; and brother-in-law, Bob Dressen.
