Mary Jane O'Brien

Mary Jane O'Brien, age 85 of Belle Plaine met the Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2020. She was born on April 17, 1934 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She attended Fair Park High School in Shreveport. She married the love of her life Donald O’Brien on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1953 at St. John’s Berchmans in Shreveport, Louisiana. After Donald completed his military service the couple moved back to Minnesota.  She worked for many years raising her 10 children and working in food services for the Belle Plaine School system.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Michael) Doran of Prior Lake, Connie (Lyle) Straub of LeSueur, Mary Pat (Todd) Derner of Belle Plaine, Donald Jr, (Shelley) O'Brien of Credit River, Kellie (Dean) Jansen of Shakopee, James (Jessica) O'Brien of LeSueur, Gregory (Theresa) O’Brien of Belle Plaine, Camille (Michael) Erdmann of Shakopee, Patrick (Linda) and Jennifer (Todd) Kahlow of Belle Plaine. 23 Grandchildren and 16 Great-grandchildren. Mary Jane’s siblings; Angelo Cascio, Anthony (Martha) Cascio, George Cascio, Rosina Cascio and special companion, Sammy Pedro.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Donald in 2016 and siblings, Albert, Sammy, Pete, Jonny, Connie and Camille.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, with interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine.  Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the church prior to the funeral mass.
