Mary E. Krekelberg

Mary Elsie Krekelberg, age 90 of Le Sueur, died on Sunday morning, August 4, 2019 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Le Sueur.  Funeral service will be 11am on Wednesday, August 7, at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Sueur.  Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday morning from 9 to 11am.  Interment will follow the luncheon at church, and will be in St.’s Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Rev. Dallas Miller will officiate the services.

Mary was born on January 16, 1929 to Herbert and Mathilda (Pawelk) Schoenke in New Germany, MN.  She was baptized on February 10, 1929 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in New Germany and was confirmed at the same church on April 18, 1943.  She grew up in the New Germany area and graduated from Central High School in Norwood-Young America in 1947.  She married LeRoy “Tony” Krekelberg on April 18, 1952 at St. Benedict Catholic Church near Jordan, MN.  The couple farmed and raised their family near Chaska, Glencoe and finally Le Sueur.  She worked various jobs over the years; Telex, MRC and also a cook at the Le Sueur Public Schools.  Mary was active in her church, Ladies Guild, and Senior activities and lunches.  She especially enjoyed her travels in her later years and time with family, friends and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her twin children, Dale (Lori) Krekelberg of Le Sueur and Donna (Curt) Lambrecht of Bloomington, MN; son-in-law, Phil Garbe of Shakopee, MN; 14 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; and siblings, Lavilla Schmalz of Lester Prairie, MN and Franklin Schoenke of New Germany, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony in 1998; daughter, Cindy Garbe; and sister, Janet Stander.
