Mary Labin

Mary Labin, age 99 of Belle Plaine died on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in St. Thomas, MN. Mary was born on June 6, 1911 to Henry and Mary (Ginter) Pianko in St. Thomas, Minnesota. She grew up on the family farm near St. Thomas and attended country schools. On May 12, 1931, she married Ben Labin at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lexington, MN. They lived in St. Thomas before moving to New Prague, where Mary worked in an egg hatchery. They later moved to Belle Plaine and Mary worked as a cook for the Lutheran Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ben Labin in 1973; parents; daughter, Elizabeth; granddaughter, Mary Ellen; 3 sisters and 3 brothers. Mary enjoyed embroidery and was active in the church when she was able. She is survived by her Daughter: Mary Ann Wagner of Belle Plaine; Grandchildren, Dave (Kim) Wagner of Belle Plaine, Karen (Max) Bartusek of New Prague, Mary Kay (Dennis) Schoenbauer of New Prague and Tony Veches of Minnetonka; Great Grandchildren, Sarah and Ben Wagner, Mary (Jemuel) Houser, Melissa (Tom) Kerber and Michelle Schoenbauer; Great Great Grandchildren, Josiah and Silis Houser; Sisters, Francis Hayden of Hopkins, Rosemary Mosiniak of Minneapolis, Katherine O'Neill of Minneapolis, Amelia (David) Fogarty of Belle Plaine and Dorothy Brown of Belle Plaine.
