Mary Patricia Munson

Mary Patricia Munson, age 81 of Belle Plaine passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2026, at Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine. Her departure leaves a heartfelt void among all who were touched by her warmth and kindness. A Celebration of Life and Remembrance of Mary will be on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 10-11am at the Vet’s Club - located at 221 N. Meridian Street, Belle Plaine, MN 56011 with an 11:00 am Prayer service and time of remembrance. Pastor Don Genereux will officiate.

Mary Pat Munson, born on November 27, 1944, in Moline, Illinois, to her adopted parents Jacy and Ruth (Longfield) Stiles. After her mother, Ruth, passed away in July of 1961, she was blessed with her bonus mother Henrietta Stiles.

Her educational journey began at High School in Ellsworth, Wisconsin, and continued at Rasmussen School of Business in St. Paul, Minnesota — foundations that helped shape the capable and generous woman she became.

Mary Pat devoted 28 years of her career to the State of Wisconsin Workers Compensation department, specifically within the plumbing division, where her expertise and commitment served countless individuals. Beyond her professional life, Mary was engaged with her community, spending two decades as a cherished member of the Historical Society. She found joy and purpose in volunteering at the food shelf whenever possible and treasured moments with her friends, always prioritizing connection and kindness.

Mary’s love for dogs was legendary among her loved ones. She was delighted in having visitors bring their beloved companions to see her, a reflection of her gentle soul and open heart. This small but meaningful tradition brought her comfort and joy, symbolizing the warmth she shared with so many.

Mary was blessed to be surrounded by beloved family throughout her life. She is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Shawn Fogel and Tom Muehlstedt; her sister, Alice J. (John) Weckman; step-sister, Phyliss Renne; and step-brother, Jim (Carol) Schmidt; brother-in-law, John P. Sage; her step-daughter, Melanie (Kirk) Guest, and her grandchildren, Alexis, Ryan, Reese, and Haeven; and close friend and sister to her son, Tom, Kyle Goodroad. Her extended family included many nieces and nephews who held her close in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her dear parents, her beloved husband Ronald, siblings, Leona Wase, Priscilla Sage, Michael Stiles, and step-sibling Vivian Geis.
