Mary A. Scheffler

Mary Ann Scheffler, age 85, of Henderson died on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in Le Sueur. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Henderson, MN. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 25, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur from 4:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Church on Thursday morning one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Church Cemetery, Henderson, MN. Fr. Sam Perez will officiate the services. Mary was born on January 22, 1932 to Joseph and Anna (Schoenbauer) Skluzacek in Lonsdale, MN. She grew up in the Lonsdale area and graduated from New Prague High School in 1949. She married Leo Scheffler on June 25, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, MN. The couple lived in Shakopee before moving to Henderson in 1976. Mary was a homemaker, devoted Mother and wife her entire life. She was devoted to the church: singing in the choir, tending to flowers, teaching religion classes, helping with funeral lunches and other church activities. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and found food to be an important part of all family gatherings. Mary had a beautiful gift of making every person feel special with her warm heart and contagious smile. She is survived by her children; Lucy (Bob) Meyer, Anita (Dann) Olson, George (Paula) Scheffler, Joe (Rachel) Scheffler, Pauline (Russ) Arnst, Fran (Jim) Tiegs & Bonnie Scheffler all of Henderson, MN. 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Edith Connelly of Savage, MN; brothers; Gilbert (Elsie) Skluzacek and Joseph Skluzacek both of Lonsdale, MN; In-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo in 2015; parents; sisters, Helen Voracek & Clare Nickolay and her granddaughter, Kailey Olson; In-laws, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
