Matthew Paul Spletzer

Matthew Paul Spletzer, age 30 of Alexandria, formerly of Henderson, died on Saturday, May 21 as a result of a boating accident. He was born on Sept. 21, 1980 to Tim and Denise (Knutson) Spletzer in Waconia, MN. He was baptized on Oct. 5, 1980 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle by Rev. Bernard H. Becker and later confirmed on April 23, 1995 by Pastor Herman Hannemann. He graduated from Sibley East High School in 1999. He completed his Construction Electrician Degree at Southwest Technical College in Jackson, MN in 2001. He continued his education with on the job training with apprenticeship programs leading to a title of Journeyman Electrician. He worked for Nuessmeier Electric and other companies and was currently working as a crew leader for Melrose Electric. During his teen years he was active in 4-H, FFA and high school sports which included cross country, wrestling and track. Matt enjoyed the outdoors and time with his buddies and family. He was always ready to help friends and his winning smile and contagious laugh brought joy to all. He was the proud Godfather to Tony Carpenter and Kiley Spletzer. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle, MN, with Rev. Erwin Sprengler officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 4-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the services on Thursday. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Tim and Denise Spletzer of Henderson, MN. Siblings: Jennifer Carpenter and her son Tony of Arlington, MN; Jason (Tricia) Spletzer and children; Stephanie, Aliyah, Logan and Kiley of Belle Plaine; Grandmothers: Isabelle Knutson of Henning, MN and Betty Spletzer of Henderson, MN; Uncles and Aunts: Karen (Charles) Magnuson, Daniel, David and Christina; Ron (Sharon) Knutson, Tom and Andy; Steve (Julie) Knutson, Allison and Evan;Elizabeth Spletzer; Bob (Carla) Spletzer, Ryan, Paul and Greg; Mark (Marlene) Spletzer, Kate (Landon) and Sam. He is preceded in death by his Grandfathers, Levern Knutson and Edgar Spletzer.
