Leona "Maxine" Schlueter, age 93 of Le Sueur, died Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Bishop Aaron Budge will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. "Maxine" was born on May 21, 1921 to Rex and Mabelle (Hampton) Lindsay in Bemis, South Dakota. The family moved to Le Sueur, MN in 1934. She graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1938. She attended South Dakota State University and graduated in 1942 with a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching/Home Economics. She taught for 3 years in Estelline, SD and moved back to Le Sueur in 1946. She married Douglas Schlueter on April 27, 1946. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on August 23, 1961. She went back to college in 1965 for her re-certification to teach in MN. She then taught in Henderson in the late ‘60's and early 70's. She was also an assistant librarian at the Le Sueur Library. "Maxine" was very involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, her quilting club and also book club and member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Laird) Slaugh of Clearfield, UT, Robert (Geri) Schlueter of Rushford, MN and John (Cheryl) Schlueter of Burnsville, MN; grandchildren, Dwight Slaugh, Benjamin Slaugh and Jesse Slaugh, Ronald Schlueter, Melisa Schlueter and Timothy Schlueter; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lou (Don) Cain of Bloomington, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug; grandson, Nathan Slaugh and 3 sisters, Priscilla, Eleanor and GlennaDee.
