May Sutherland

May Sutherland, age 93, of LeSueur died on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in LeSueur. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ in LeSueur. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday. Kolden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. May was born on October 6, 1917 in Aldora, Iowa to Frank and Dolly (Sears) Ratledge. She attended country schools. May married Harvey Sutherland on September 14, 1936 in Durand, Wisconsin. She worked seasonally for the Green Giant Company in the Canteen and also was a waitress at Lukes Cafe and McCargars Café. She was formerly active in the LeSueur Saddle Club. May lived at the nursing home for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband, Harvey; sons, Raymond (Bev) Sutherland of Belle Plaine, James Sutherland of Vancouver, WA; daughters, Dorothy Smith and Pat (Gene) Grieves of LeSueur; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 10 sisters and 3 brothers.
