Megan Elizabeth Bening

Megan Elizabeth Bening, age 22, of Arlington, Minnesota died unexpectedly on January 28, 2017 in Rapid City, South Dakota. She was born on April 15, 1994 in Glencoe, Minnesota to Allan and Jean (Moore) Bening. Megan was baptized, received her first communion and was confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. She was a 2012 graduate of Sibley East High School and graduated with a B. S. degree in Computer Information Technology from Minnesota State University-Mankato (MNSU) in December of 2016. She was currently working towards her Masters Degree and was also employed by Bureau 507 at MNSU as a User Experience Manager. Megan loved to downhill ski and experienced a spontaneous brain hemorrhage while enjoying her biggest passion, skiing at Black Hills Ski for Light. She enjoyed water skiing, sky diving and spending time with family and friends. She was the secretary for the MN student division of the National Federation of the Blind. She especially enjoyed bonding and friendship while involved in Girl Scout Troop # 3074 and also participated in speech, plays, singing in Opus One. She is survived by her parents, Allan and Jean Bening, her guide dog Cori and her grandma, Sylvia Bening, all of Arlington. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Curtis Bening, Nancy Bening, Rose Kuenzel, Jerry Moore, Carol (Duane) Hacker, Jo Moore and Rick (Kim) Moore as well as loving cousins and close friends. Megan is preceded in death by grandparents, Carroll and Betty Moore and Alfred Bening and uncles, Elwood and Mark Bening and cousin, Jordon Liebhard. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington with Fr.Keith Salisbury and Deacon Tim Dolan, celebrating the mass. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 and one hour prior to the mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Kolden Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
