Melba A. Meffert, age 79 of Arlington, died Friday, June 8, 2018 at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13 at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Rev. Kurt Lehmkuhl will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington and will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Melba was born on November 5, 1938 to Melvin and Anna (Strand) Tellijohn in Le Sueur, Mn. She was a 1956 graduate of Le Sueur High School. She married Gerald "Sarge" Meffert on May 16, 1959 in Le Sueur. She worked at the local Rexall Pharmacy for many years and at Norwood-Young-America Corp. She owned and operated Sarge's Food Store in Arlington with her husband, and then worked as a para-professional at the Sibley East School before retiring. Throughout the years Melba enjoyed gardening, embroidering, and sewing. Some of her favorite pastimes were bowling in a league with friends and traveling out of state for the state tournaments. She loved traveling whether with friends or family. She was a very caring and loving person, and was always helping others. Her children and her grandchildren were very important to her and she loved spending time with family. She is survived by her children, Dave Meffert of Arlington and Amy Jambeck of Waconia; daughters-in-law, Lisa (Brian) Mehlhop of Arlington and Iris (Gary) Williams of Le Sueur; grandchildren, Katyana (Peter) Miller, Robert Meffert, Cassandra Meffert, Mathew Meffert, Michaela Meffert, Garrett Jambeck and Gavin Jambeck; great-grandchildren, Lilyana, Dylan, Paul and Charlotte; brothers, Neil Tellijohn of Owatonna and William "Bill" (Dar) Tellijohn of Mankato. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald "Sarge"; sons, Paul and John.
