Melburne L. Kahle, age 93 of Mankato, formerlay of Le Sueur and Henderson died on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, MN. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m, Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial with military honors will be at Brown Cemetery, Henderson, MN following funeral. Was born to Leonard and Elsie Kahle on February 17, 1924 in Blakeley Township. He graduated from Le Sueur High School in the class of 1942. He worked on the family farm while going to school and spoke very fondly about the many animals they had, especially Jack and Jenny, a pair of mules that helped work the farm. Melburne also worked at Green Giant in the canning factory. Once he received papers for his call of duty, he sold his 1929 and 1930 Model A Fords for $60.00 each, and went on to serve as a PFC in the 15th Infantry where he received the Bronze Battle Star while in the European, African, and Middle East Theatre. Melburne was honorably discharged on August 22, 1946. After his service, he went to work at Honeywell in Hopkins until his retirement. Melburne was a private man but was quick to smile and he was liked by all people that met him. He was a member of the American Legion Post #74 in Henderson. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Elsie and Leonard, brother, Donnie and Shirley Kahle, and sister, Vida and Taft George. He is survived by five nephews and one niece, and their children and grandchildren. Melburne would have wanted to thank the staff at the Hillcrest Nursing Home for the care and dignity they showed him during his final chapter.
