Melville W. Schultz, age 95 of Belle Plaine, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at his home at Kingsway Retirement Living Community in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. John Meyer will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Melville was born on February 16, 1918 to Herman and Bertha (Mitzner) Schultz in Marshall, MN. He grew up on the family farm near Marshall and attended the area schools. He was in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received his teaching degree from Dr. Martin Lutheran College. He married Esther Sprenger on July 31, 1943 and they later moved to Belle Plaine. He was the principal at Trinity Lutheran School from 1951 to 1986. Melville is survived by his children, Celeste (Pastor Lynn) Wiedmann of Van Nuys, CA and David (Peggy) Schultz of Shakopee; grandchildren, Suzanne (Glen) Krause, Kimberly Schultz, Nicole (Greg) Loeding, Heather (David) Malchow, Alison Wiedmann, Nathan Schultz and Aaron (Alexia Kelsey) Schultz; great-grandchildren, Max, Megan and Emma Krause, Bryce, Autumn and Carson Malchow and Ian Loeding; sister, Dolores (Don) Benson of Taylors Falls, MN and sister-in-law, Evelyn Schultz of Marshall, MN. Melville is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Esther in 2006 and son, Dan Schultz.
