Melvin Lester Geib

Mel Geib, age 72 of Arlington passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 11th at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington. Rev. Tyson Mastin will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will take place ½ hour prior to the service time Monday at the funeral home. Melvin Lester Geib was born at home near Henderson, Mn. on February 21, 1942 to Elwood and Eleanor (Busse) Geib. He grew up in Hamburg, Mn. Mel married Sharon Hamilton on September 29, 1961 in Shakopee, Mn. They shared 52 years together before Sharon passed away on March 11, 2014. Their marriage was blessed with 3 daughters; Shelly, Tracy and Shannon.Mel was a very proud and hard working man. He owned his own trucking company for many years before returning to construction and retiring from Wm. Mueller and Sons. Mel was best known for his witty sense of humor, infectious smile and twinkle in his eyes. He adored his family and his dog Peppi. Mel passed away at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center surrounded by his loved ones on August 6th at the age of 72 years. Blessed be his memory. Mel is survived by his daughters; Shelly (Dan) Rannow of Maricopa, Az., Tracy (Tim) Stuedemann of Plato and Shannon Best (special friend Brandon McDowell) of Glencoe, dog; Peppi, grandchildren; Rachelle (Jason) Hendricks, Joshua (Melodie) Rannow, Christopher (Marissa) Rannow, Alyssa (Mili) Kajtaz, Jeremy (Patty) Geib, Linsey (Chris) Weidendorf, Maddie Stuedemann, Brittany Geib (special friend Justin Potts), Taylor Best (special friend Travis Koester), great grandchildren; Cassidy, Courtney, Camryn and Chase Hendricks, Miley, Hayley, and Jordan Rannow, Bentley and Liam Kajtaz, Colton and Claire Geib, Caylee and Levi Weidendorf, Riley Geib, brothers; Kenny (Sherry) Geib, Kevin Geib, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Donald (Peggy) Hamilton, Larry Hamilton, Karon (Gary) Mohrmann and Terrie (Terry) Mohrmann, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mel was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his parents Elwood and Eleanor, in-laws Lawrence and Alice Hamilton and brother Curt Geib.
