Merlin M. Jasken

Merlin M. Jasken, age 90, of Arlington, passed away Tuesday, November 08, 2011, at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2011, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington, with visitation from 8:30 to 10:00 A.M. at the church. Fr. Keith Salisbury will officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Arlington. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Merlin Jasken was born January 12, 1921, in Arlington Township, Sibley County, to John and Anna (Robeck) Jasken. He attended country schools near Arlington, and graduated from Arlington High School. Merlin married Anna Kauffmann on October 24, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. They were blessed with nearly 51 years of marriage. Merlin was a hard working, determined man. His farm in Dryden Township was his job and his passion; he had a deep seated love for the land. He loved to go to auctions, travel and go for a drive. In recent years, he enjoyed the daily emails he received from his family, and visits from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Merlin is survived by his children, Betty (Eldon) Peterson of Revillo, SD, Kathy (Randy) Fiecke of Lester Prairie, Rita (Craig) Glieden of Hutchinson, John Jasken of Del Rio, TX, and Richard (Stacia) Jasken of Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren, Christopher (Mary) Sieh, Tanya Schaffer, James(Miranda) Sieh, Tyler (Melody) Sieh, Emily (Maurice) Tonn, Julie (Jeff) Stotko, Katie (Damon) Klein, Robert (Cassandra) Glieden, Thomas (Jessica) Glieden, Ann, Marilyn, Mary Jasken, Madison and Peyton Jasken; 19 great-grandchildren, Christian, Matthew, Hannah, Abby, and Isaiah Sieh, Aubrey Schaffer, Brandon, Anika, Kari, and Vivian Sieh, Trevor and Megan Tonn, Alexis, Hailey, and Mason Stotko, Anna and Miles Klein, Isabel and Ezra Glieden. Merlin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; grandson, Scott Peterson; siblings, Mayona (Clinton) Schultz, Norbert (Elvira) Jasken, and Rita (Orris Sr.) Johnson.
