Michael Raymond “Mike” Duffy, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Belle Plaine, Minnesota—the same date he was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1935 to Raymond and Mary (Nally) Duffy. His long and full life was marked by devotion to family, a love of the outdoors, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew him. Mike grew up in Faxon Township, Sibley County and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. His places of employment included Green Giant can company and Our Own Hardware warehouse. After retirement, he read meters for Minnesota Valley Electric. He shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Marge —a bond that stood as a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, Mike and Marge raised three children: Michele (Kevin) Dahl, Maureen (Randy) Millard, and Mark Duffy. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Erica (Tim) Larsen, Michael Dahl, Matthew Duffy, Brittany (Dave) Pearson, Danielle (Sean) Corcoran, and Myranda (Ryan) Jeurissen. He was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. A man of simple pleasures and deep contentment, Mike found joy in playing cards with friends and family, traveling to new places with Marge by his side, spending time at the lake home where memories were made across generations, casting a line while fishing—one of his favorite pastimes—and tending to his lawn with pride. Those who knew Mike will remember him as caring and loving—a presence that brought comfort and laughter. His absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of many. May his memory bring peace to those who loved him and inspiration to all who carry forward the values he lived by.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Marge, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is remembered fondly by siblings Mary Pat Murphy and Patrick (Emilie) Duffy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Joe Cimenski; brother Kevin Duffy; brother-in-law Daniel Murphy, in-laws Frank and Frances Franek and sister-in-law and husband JoAnn and Don Seaver. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Fr. Michael Kaluza will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:30 am prior to the Mass at church on Saturday morning. Lunch will be served immediately following the Mass, followed by interment in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery near Cedar Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Catholic Church or The Lutheran Home.
