Michael Glisczinski

September 10, 1928 — August 13, 2016

Michael Glisczinski, age 87 of rural Belle Plaine, passed away on August 13, 2016 at Mayo Hospital in New Prague. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday, August 16 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the service at church on Tuesday morning. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Mike was born in Derrynane Township, LeSueur County on September 10, 1928 to Michael A. and Anna (Guessen) Glisczinski. He was a 1946 graduate of New Prague High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Tank Mechanic. On February 7, 1953 Mike married Patricia Ryan at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Peter. They farmed in Le Sueur County until 1964 when they settled on their farm in rural Belle Plaine. He was a dairy farmer up until 1967 when he transferred to hog and grain farming as well as custom grain hauling. Mike was a former president of the Scott Co. NFO, past president of Scott Co. Ag. Society, former Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights, member of the New Prague VFW, sponsor of the NWTF Valley Yelpers, member of Pheasants Forever, and a devout member of Our Lady of the Prairie Church in Belle Plaine. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, family gatherings, and loved polka music. He is preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 2013, daughter Monica and brother Sylvester. Mike is survived by his children, Greg (Lisa) of Neillsville, WI, Anita of Belle Plaine, Peter (Connie) of Belle Plaine, Jim of Belle Plaine, John (special friend Corky Stremel) of Le Center, 11 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, Siblings Francis (Billie Jo) of Belle Plaine, Rita (Pat) Savage of Belle Plaine, Regina Maus of Henderson, Phyllis (Richard) Deutsch of New Prague, Ann Revord of Belle Plaine, Sisters-in-Law, Joan Glisczinski of Belle Plaine, Eileen Ryan of St. Peter, and Irene Weis of Rochester
