Michael W. Powers, age 70 of LeSueur died on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in LeSueur. Interment, with military honors by the LeSueur Honor Guard, will be in the Calvary Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur with a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Wednesday until 10:45 a.m. Michael was born on June 16, 1943 in St. Peter, Minnesota to John "Jack" and Winnifred (O'Malley) Powers. He graduated from LeSueur High School and entered the Army Reserve. Mike married Betty Osborne on January 28, 1967 at the Church of St. Peter in St. Peter. He farmed with his father and brother on their Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County farm until 1986. Mike then worked for 10 years at the American National Can Company in Savage and 10 years with Seneca Foods in Montgomery. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fox Hollow Saddle Club and the LeSueur Basketball Association. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, camping, horseback riding, playing cards, country music and reading. Survivors include his wife, Betty. Son, John and his fiance Nicole Degner of Farmington. 2 grandchildren, Vivien and Xavier. Brothers, David (Brina) Powers of LeSueur and Tom (Carol Kennedy) Powers of Minneapolis. Sisters-in-law, Joyce (Darrel) Narveson of LeSueur, Jane (Bob) Gustafson of Fargo, ND and Sharon (Ray) Nourie of Nicollet and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, his twin Patrick and William, both in infancy.
