Mildred D. Henke

Mildred D. Henke, age 89 of Arlington died on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18th at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Arlington Public Cemetery. Rev. Kurt Lehmkuhl will officiate the services. Mildred was born on July 6, 1927 in Penn Township, McLeod County to Robert Sr. & Martha (Mielke) Abram. She was given the name Mildred Dena Alma Abram at her baptism on July 24, 1927 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Penn Township by Rev. W. Ehrhardt Diemer. Mildred was confirmed on April 10, 1938 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church by Rev. C. H. Kowalski. She attended rural country school and graduated from Brownton High School in 1944. She married Melvin A. Henke on October 30, 1949 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Fernando, MN. The couple lived in Glencoe until 1959 and relocated to Arlington. Over the years Mildred worked as a waitress but enjoyed her time as a door-to-door Avon representative since 1958, sales representative for Stanley Home Products and 20 years as a Group Manager. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, home bible study and charter member of Peace Lutheran Church. Mildred especially enjoyed her family and making afghans for her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters; Shirley (Duane) Weckwerth of Arlington and Kathleen (John) Kachelmyer of Mankato, 6 grandchildren; Lonnie (Dana) Weckwerth, Leon (Jennifer) Weckwerth, Landon (Johanna) Weckwerth, Nathan (Nicole) Kachelmyer, Kristin (Brady) Krusemark and Kallie (Tyler) Stroh, 14 great-grandchildren; Andrew, Melinda, Zachary, Charlotte & Parker Weckwerth, Claire, Grace, Matthew, James & Joshua Kachelmyer, Benjamin & Anna Krusemark and their expected sibling, Jackson & Aaron Stroh, sister; Karen Schrader of Hutchinson. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin in 2003, brother Robert Abram, Jr., sister, LorJean Hauser and grandson, Lance Weckwerth.
