Muriel Yvonne (Bottem) Druck, age 96, of Belle Plaine, formerly of St. James, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. A memorial service for Murial will be on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at The Lutheran Home Chapel in Belle Plaine with Rev. Ed Fredrich officiating. The chapel will be available to enter at 12:45 p.m.
Muriel was born on March 14, 1930, in St. James to Jacob and Anna (Johnson) Bottem. She grew up in St. James and graduated from St. James High School in 1947. After high school, she married Bill Druck Jr. in 1948, and they started their family shortly after. Once Muriel’s three daughters had grown, she worked as a legal secretary and then worked at a bank until her retirement. Muriel and Bill were married for over 60 years before his passing in 2011.
Muriel found joy in the simple things that made life special. She loved flowers, visits with family and friends, and a good book and a game of solitaire. She enjoyed watching old cowboy movies, taking adventures in the golf cart, and never turned down a good glass of brandy or sweet treat. Whether she was surrounded by her favorite people, enjoying the beauty of flowers, or heading off on another golf cart adventure, Muriel knew how to appreciate life’s little pleasures. She had a love for adventure, a wonderful sense of humor, and a sassy spirit that made her unforgettable.
Our family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the incredible staff, caregivers, and friends at Kingsway and TLHA who lovingly cared for Muriel over the last five years. She adored each and every one of you, and the love and kindness you showed her meant more than words could ever express. You went above and beyond in caring for her, not only meeting her needs but making her feel loved, valued, and special. You became so much more than caregivers; you became her friends and an extension of her family. Knowing she was surrounded by people who genuinely cared for her brought us comfort that we can never fully put into words. Thank you for loving our Mom/Grammy so well, for bringing joy to her days, and for treating her with such tenderness, dignity, and compassion. We will forever be grateful for each of you and the special place you hold in Muriel’s heart and ours.
Muriel is survived by her two daughters, Kris (Steve) Lutes and Cindy Corbit; grandchildren, David (Barb) Yurko and family, Bryan (Cami) Yurko and family, Jill (Shadi) Saman and family, Shannon (Andy) Sexe and family, Caycie (Nick) Volek and family, Melanie (Greg) Johnson and family, and Ryan Elliot and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Druck Jr.; children, Murray William Druck and Cheryl Druck; and granddaughter, Angie Rae Clow.
