Myra Ann Jahr, age 79 of Arlington, died Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.  Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27 at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington with Rev. Matthew C. Rauh officiating.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 26 at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington, and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at church.  Interment will be in St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Arlington.  Due to Covid-19 guidelines, face masks and social distancing will be required at both the visitation and funeral.

Myra was born on December 10, 1940 to Fred and Selma (Zink) Dammann in Hamburg, MN. She graduated from Arlington Green Isle High School in 1958.  She then went to work at a bank in Waconia, until she married Roger Jahr on June 18, 1960 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg.  The couple farmed and raised their family in Green Isle Township.  Once their children were in school, Myra began working at the Arlington Good Samaritan and was there for 26 years.  Through working and raising the children she also helped her husband farm.

Myra loved spending time with her family, and especially loved watching the little ones run and play.  The "neatness rules" were relaxed when the great-grandchildren came to visit.  If you visited Roger and Myra on the farm, you were always offered something delicious to eat, even if you said you weren't hungry.  And if you were lucky, you visited when she made popcorn, because she made the very best popcorn, using an old ugly kettle on the stove.  Myra took great pride in taking care of her home, which was obvious when you walked through the door.  She loved to read and stayed up late reading.  The lamp in the living room was always on late at night while she read.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; children, Tim (Julie) Jahr, Jodie (Gene) Johnson, and Julianne (Terry) Shaw; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Josh (Audra) Shaw, their children: Gillian, Katelyn, Lexus, Shelby and Grayson, Amanda (Todd) Fisher, their children: Emma and Maren, Jordan (April) Shaw, Laura (Tim) Tracy, their children: Wyatte, Cody, and Weston, Cory (Dani) Johnson, Jennifer Jahr, Kathy Shaw, Martin (Therese) Jahr, and Connor Johnson; sisters, Mabel Stradtmann and Eileen (Charlie) Unger; and sister-in-law, Joyce Winter.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Dakota and Betty; brother, Harlan Dammann; and brothers-in-law, Earl Stradtmann and Elden Winter.
