Myrtle Lydia Busch

Myrtle Lydia Alvina Sophia Bartels Busch, age 92 died on November 7, 2010 at St. Mary's Care Center in Winsted, Minnesota. Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Myrtle was born on December 12, 1917 to Ernest and Lillie (Lueders) Bartels in Hancock Township, Carver County, MN. Myrtle was baptized at home because of a snow storm. She was confirmed on March 29, 1931 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle, MN by Rev. R.W. Rottmann. On December 20, 1935 Myrtle was married to George C. Busch at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine by Rev. P.J. Haupt. Myrtle and George farmed 3 miles north of Belle Plaine on the Busch Homestead for all their married lives. George died at home on October 20, 1995. In November 1999, Myrtle went to live north of Glencoe with her daughter, Edna. She did house cleaning before she married George. Myrtle liked to do gardening, read and sew. She sewed many toys and quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and Circle at her church until her death. She is preceded in death by her husband, George C. Busch; parents, Ernest and Lillie Bartels; brothers, Willard, Earl, Ernie, Wilbert, and Merlin Bartels; sisters, Lorna Williams, Muriel Long and LuVerna Long; sons-in-law, Vernon Ide and Wayne Selchow; sister-in-laws, Millie Bartels and Josephine Bartels; brother-in-laws, Herbert Williams, Verlin Long and Elbert Long. Myrtle is survived by her two daughters: Violet Selchow of Lester Prairie and Edna Ide of Glencoe; Grandchildren: Carolyn (James) Toenies of Lester Prairie, Jennifer (Loren) Vanderlinde of Maple Plain, Laura Duenow of Hutchinson, Glenn Selchow of Howard Lake, Paul (Joleen) Selchow of Priest River, ID, Douglas (Rachel) Selchow of Menomonie, WI, Teresa (Jeffrey) Brelje of Glencoe, Faye (Curtis) Anderson of Brandenburg, KY, and Ryan Ide of Glencoe Great Grandchildren: Kelli, Katie and Jacob Paschke, Valerie, Matthew and Karen Vanderlinde, Joshua, Alex and Chad Duenow, Emily and Eric Selchow, Jordan and Morgan Selchow and Ariel and Austin Brelje; Sister: Carol (James) Moorhouse of Boise, ID; Sister-in-laws: Dorothy Bartels of Belle Plaine, Ruby Bartels of Belle Plaine and Sylvia Bartels of Young America along with numerous nieces nephews and other relatives.
