Nella Schmidt

Nella Schmidt, age 69 of Belle Plaine, passed away on Easter morning, March 27 at her home. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Saturday. April 2, 2016 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Rev. Tim Redfield will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8p.m. on Friday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue two hours prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine Nella was born in New Prague on December 14, 1946 to Willmar and Janet (Schoenke) Schuette. She graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1964. On January 9, 1966 she married Gary Schmidt at Trinity in Belle Plaine. They farmed in San Francisco Twp. in Carver County for many years and has lived in Belle Plaine for the last 30 years. She worked at Anderson Lighting, Prairie Farm Supply and most recently at Ross Nesbit Insurance Agency. Nella enjoyed quilting, knitting, bowling, flowers, enjoyed going to sporting events, travelling and spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Willmar and Janet (Schoenke) Schuette, step father Ralph Stender, father in law Earl Schmidt, grandson, Derrick, granddaughter Rosa, siblings, Craig, Betty Ann and Willmar "Butch." Nella is survived by her husband, Gary, Sons, Steve (Sheila), Scott (Karla) and Terry (Jenny), Grandchildren, Tylor, Sabrina (Jesse), Jacob (Renee), Mikkel, Josie, Brody, Mason, Elizabeth and Morgan. Great Grandchildren, Orion, Cloud and Norman Brother, Jon (Peggy) Schuette, Sister in law, Jane Schuette, Mother in law, Eldora Schmidt, Brother in law, Glenn (Heidi) Schmidt Sister in law, Linda (Greg) Schwichtenberg, Sandi (Kevin) Wolpern Step Siblings, Dale (Susie) Stender and LaJune Zellman, Many nieces and nephews.
