Norman Charles Thoele

Norman Thoele, age 87 of Hamburg passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 11th at St. Paul's Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg. Visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10th at the church and will continue 1 hour prior to service time Monday afternoon. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is assisting the family with arrangements. Norman Charles Thoele was born on June 30, 1930 in New Ulm to Eberhardt Dewey and Rose Alvina (Werner) Thoele. He was baptized on July 20, 1930 at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church of New Rome by Rev. J. Bruse. He was confirmed as a youth. He attended District 58 Public School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Era as a Tank Mechanic in the 3rd Armored Division. He attained the rank of Corporal during his service time. On April 21, 1957 he married Delores Adeline Wallert at St. John's Lutheran Church in Arlington Township by Rev. Walter Mueller. Norman owned and operated Thoele's Garage in Hamburg from 1962 - 1995. In his retirement he started Norm's Antiques which he ran out of the basement of his home. Norman was a member of the Hamm's Beer Club and loved garage sales and salvaging. He was a member of St. Paul's Brotherhood and the church Dart Ball team. He was treasurer of the Green Isle Sportsman Club. He was a past member of the Arlington Vocation Board, Hamburg and Central Public School Boards. Norman was a 52 year member of the Hamburg Baseball Club and a 22 year member of the Hamburg Fire Department. Mr. Thoele is survived by his two daughters; Bonnie Fries of Hamburg and Kathy Herrmann of Glencoe, brother; Karl (Edith) Thoele of Henderson, brother-in-law; Kenneth (Sharon) Wallert of Inver Grove Heights, grand-fur babies; Stella, Sophie and Sam and nieces and nephews. Norman is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, wife Delores, sons-in-law; Jerry Fries and Doug Herrmann, grandson Phillip Herrmann and brother and sister-in-law; LeRoy and Verna Thoele.
