Orlin Meyer

Orlin Meyer, age 79 of Green Isle passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Visitation will be 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to service time Friday all at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Green Isle. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Orlin Charles Meyer was born on September 25, 1937 on the Meyer homestead to William, Jr. and Elsie (Hebeisen) Meyer. He was baptized on October 3, 1937 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle by Rev. Rottmann. Orlin was confirmed on May 20, 1951 also at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by Rev. Arndt. Orlin married Vivian Stoeckman on November 4, 1956 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg by Rev. L.T. Wohlfeil. Orlin farmed the Meyer family farm from 1956 until his retirement. He also worked for Bongards Creameries (1956 - 1960), ran a livestock and freight hauling business from 1974 - 1995 and was a bus driver for Sibley East Schools from 1996 - 2008 as well as having served in several capacities at St. Paul's Lutheran Church including trustee, custodian and cemetery caretaker. Orlin and Vivian shared 60 years of marriage together before his passing on December 26, 2016. He was a devout husband and father to his family and enjoyed his many friends. Orlin is survived by his wife Vivian and children; Curtis (Judith) Meyer, Janelle Petzel (special friend Patrick Ayienda), John (Tamera) Meyer, Lori (Curtis) Weckwerth, Anita (Richard) Quast, Suzanne (Martin) Milam and William (Sonya) Meyer, grandchildren; Kristen & Kort Meyer, Curtiss, Kyle (Krista), & Timothy Petzel (special friend Tamra Braun), Jennifer (Jared) Mackenthun & Scott Meyer, Amanda (Justin) Thaemert, Adam & Austin Weckwerth, Emily & Benjamin Quast, Aaron Meyer (fiancée Hallie Paschke), Elizabeth & Sara Milam, Mason & Michelle Meyer, great grandchildren; Alexis & Samantha Petzel, Hailey & Braden Petzel, Brianna Howk, Trent Mackenthun, Ava Meyer, siblings; June Dahlke, Myron (Bonnie) Meyer, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mabel Meyer, Ramona Meyer, Donald Stoeckman, Kenneth (Verlinda) Stoeckman, Rollin (Beth) Stoeckman, Bernard (Bonnie) Stoeckman and Allen (Leanne) Stoeckman. Orlin is preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Edwin & Gertrud Stoeckman, and siblings and siblings-in-law; Wilmar, Lester, Glenn & Marvin Meyer, LaVerna Meyer, Erwin Dahlke and Diann Stoeckman.
