Patricia Ann (Dumas) Schwartz, age 91, of Belle Plaine, passed away on August 10, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be an hour and a half prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Le Sueur at 1:30 p.m.
Patricia Dumas was born on December 18, 1933, to Kenneth and Dorothy (Chandler) Dumas in Minneapolis. She grew up in Glen Lake and graduated from Hopkins High School. She earned her nursing degree before joining the United States Air Force in 1956 as a flight nurse. During her deployment in Germany, Patricia met and married the love of her life, LeRoy Schwartz. In 1962, they returned to reside on a farm in Blakeley Township. Patricia became a homemaker, taking care of their six children and one foster son. She later earned a master’s degree from Mankato State University and volunteered with the Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women.
Pat and LeRoy loved to travel, enjoying both trips with family and extensive traveling later in life.
Patricia is survived by sons, Dave (Cindy), Terry (Melissa), and Kevin; daughters Cathy (Tim) Elness and Julie (Dale) Tesch; daughter-in-law Carolyn; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is survived by her sisters Kathleen "Chick" Skaalerud, Leslie “Bunny” Dunsmore, Dorothy (Paul) Chandler, and brothers Steve (Jean) Dumas and Bill (Ivy) Dumas.
She is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy; her parents; son Mike Schwartz, and her foster son, Steve (Jayne) Dumas and siblings Barb Romine, Ken Dumas, Suzie Glodek, and Michelle Dumas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
