Patricia Ann Sauter

Patricia A. Sauter, age 83 of Arlington, died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, December 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Brendan's Catholic Church in Green Isle, MN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington from 3-7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church 1 hour prior to Mass on Wednesday morning. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. She was born on August 10, 1929 to Elmer & Mabel (Dressen) McDonald in Jessenland Township, Sibley County, MN. She attended rural Jessenland Township schools and graduated from Arlington High School in 1947. She married Richard Shimota on May 22, 1948. He died in 1960. She later married Alvin Sauter on June 27, 1964. The couple worked together for many years at Alvin's S & S Shoe store. Alvin died in 1994. She enjoyed being a 4-H leader, keeping score and stats for women's softball games and playing cards. She loved crocheting and fishing. She enjoyed attending all of Sibley East's sporting events. She loved watching the Twins and the Vikings play. She went on many baseball bus tours. She loved baking bread, rolls and overnight cakes, playing sheephead and knock rummy with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jean (Jerry) Schuetz of Henderson, MN, Lee (Vicki) Sauter of Belle Plaine, MN, Mary (Robert) Goheen of Brandon, SD, Chuck (Sharon) Shimota of Arlington, MN, Don Sauter and his special friend, Carrie Widger of Arlington, MN and Terri (Dave) Thomas of Savage, MN; 14 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; Brother, John (Maritta) McDonald of St. Paul, MN; special friends, Jerry and Diane Ebersviller of Arlington; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her two husbands; brothers, Leon and Merlin McDonald; daughter-in-law, Marion "Lynn" Sauter.
