Patrick M. Murphy

Patrick Murphy, age 76 of Belle Plaine, passed away at his farm in Tyrone Township, Le Sueur County on December 31, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. on Sunday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine and continue one hour prior to the Mass at church on Monday morning. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Pat was born in New Prague, MN on August 5, 1938 to Emmett and Lorraine (Berger) Murphy. He grew up on his family farm and attended country school and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. He married Marilyn Orr on June 18, 1960 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. They resided on his family dairy farm and raised 6 children. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, on the Co-op Board of Directors and loved Dairy Farming. He was devoted to his Catholic Faith and was welcomed into his eternal home by our loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett & Lorraine Murphy, brother, Kevin Murphy and brother-in-law, Don Giblin. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Children, Joe (Jean) Murphy of Belle Plaine, Beth (Brad) Steiner of St. Louis Park, Jim (Vicki) Murphy of Mankato, Paul (Nicky) Murphy of Belle Plaine, Julie (Craig) Otto of Belle Plaine, Megan (Jim) Gerres of Belle Plaine; 14 Grandchildren; 2 Great Grandchildren; Siblings, Maureen Giblin of Eagan, Margaret Ann (Mike) Biehn of New Prague, Sharon (Steve) Roth of Minneapolis, Mary Ellen (Phil) Cameron of Prior Lake, Mike (Pam) Murphy of Burnsville, Dave (Jane) Murphy of St. Paul, Dennis (Judy) Murphy of Fridley, Sister in law, Betty Ann (Phil) Fryberger of Bloomington; and many nephews and nieces.
