Paul D. Mathwig

Paul D. Mathwig, age 58 of Arlington passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 4th at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington with visitation continuing from Noon until service time Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Paul Douglas Mathwig was born on August 2, 1963 in Gaylord to Ernest and Dorothy (Hoppe) Mathwig. He attended and graduated from Arlington Green Isle High School on May 27, 1981. He furthered his education by attending Hutchinson Technical College and graduated in the area of Metrology. Paul worked on the family farm until his parent’s retirement. His field service job brought him various employments including Schwan’s, Worldwide, Elkay Manufacturing and Goebel.

Paul married Susan Oelfke on February 13, 1982 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Paul was one of the first Figure 8 racers at the Arlington Raceway, he was a Boy Scout leader, FFA member, and always encouraged his children to be successful and was involved in their passions. Paul enjoyed cooking, hunting, canning, fishing, trapping, gardening and playing Sheephead. He was always up to a good pork burger at Porky’s during the Sibley County Fair. He enjoyed squirt gun fights with the grandchildren and all things family.
