Paul J. Stier

Paul J. Stier, age 78, of Rosemount, formerly of Belle Plaine passed away on February 14, 2023. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.  Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate.  Visitation will be from 9-11a.m. prior to the service at church on Monday morning. A private burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

Paul was born on February 3, 1945 in Shakopee to Julius and Hilda (Koniarski) Stier. He grew up in Belle Plaine where he attended and graduated from Belle Plaine High School. He attended Wartburg College and graduated from the U of M. Paul married his high school sweetheart, Gloria Hayes, on August 26, 1967 at Sacred Heart Church in Belle Plaine. Paul and Gloria moved to Indiana where he attended Valparaiso University Law School. Paul was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War serving in Germany and returned to complete his law degree in 1972. He bought his first law practice in Windom, MN where the family lived until moving to Apple Valley, MN in 1987.  He proudly celebrated his 50th year of practice working part-time until his recent illness.

Paul is survived by his wife, Gloria; children, Jeffrey (Jane) Stier of Rosemount, Jeremy (Anna) Stier of Edina, and Julie (Brian) Burgess of Rochester; grandchildren, Jack, Nora, Matthew, Caroline and Connor Stier, and Grace & Gavin Burgess, sisters; Irene Bohnstadt of Michigan City, IN, Elayne (Joseph) Nelson of McAllen, TX, Helen Frost of Woodbury, MN, and sister-in-law Mars Stier of Hawaii.

He is preceded by his parents & brother, Wayne Stier and brother-in-law, Jim Bohnstadt.
