Paul H. Torgerson

Paul Herman Torgerson, age 64, lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease on the evening of Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Lakeview Ranch in Dassel, MN. Paul was born on April 22, 1951 in Litchfield, MN. He was the third son of the late Floyd and Gertrude (Buck) Torgerson. Paul graduated in 1969 from Litchfield High School then attended Willmar and St. Cloud Vocational Schools majoring in Automotive Technology. He was a US Army National Guard Reservist from October 1970 to August 1976. On August 21, 1976 he married Lynda Bengson in Litchfield, MN. They shared 38 years of marriage. Paul loved all things cars. He worked at service stations throughout high school and eventually was able to own several service stations in both Glencoe and Arlington, MN. Later on he wanted more time for his family so he sold his business and worked for Brookdale Dodge and Morrie's Saab; enabling him to remain in the automotive industry. Paul was a true motor-head; while he was growing up, he built cabinets full of model cars, which grew into a hobby of restoring antique cars and collecting miniature cars. He was most proud of his '57 Chevy and '69 Nova. In addition, he enjoyed attending car races with friends and family. Paul strove for high standards; from pride in his dress to an impeccable lawn; he always gave 100% and you could count on him in any situation. He was fond of camping, fishing and cooking; specifically grilling and he made a super stroganoff. Paul especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great granddaughter, who he liked to tell everyone, "I held her first!" He is survived by his wife, Lynda Torgerson of Arlington, MN; 4 Daughters: Patrice O'Hanlon of Edina, MN; Jennifer Torgerson (sp. friend Russell) of Arlington, MN; Kathryn (Kraig) Husfeldt of Arlington, MN; and Chrissy (Dan) Haggenmiller of Arlington, MN; 7 Grandchildren: Mackenzie and Molly O'Hanlon, Isabelle Kamps, Mason and Lucas Husfeldt, and Morgan and Paige Haggenmiller; 1 Great-Granddaughter: Avah Larson; 2 Brothers: Larry Torgerson of St. Louis, MO and Jim Torgerson of Chicago, IL; 5 nieces and 5 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Gertrude Torgerson; Numerous Aunts and Uncles; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Eli and Virginia Bengson. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 8th at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington, MN. A time for gathering of family and friends will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will take place at 10:00 am Saturday morning at Lake Ripley Cemetery in Litchfield, MN. The family of Paul Torgerson would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and support shown in this time of sorrow as well as the wonderful staff at Lakeview Ranch where he spent the last 2 months of his life.
