Peter E. Glieden Jr., age 74, of Arlington died on October 24, 2010 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Arlington. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Interment will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery in Arlington. Pete was born in Marshall, MN on May 3, 1936 to Peter Glieden Sr. and Loretta (LaPolice) Harder. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1954. He was very proud to have fought and to be a Veteran of the Armed Forces during the Korean War from June 9, 1955-May 18, 1957. Pete married Diana Trocke on October 6, 1957 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hamburg, MN. He was employed at Adolfson and Peterson Construction of Minneapolis from 1961-1999. Pete was so very proud of his eight grandchildren. He described them as his basketball team, 5 starters, 2 subs and a cheerleader. He was still figuring out positions for his 2 great granddaughters Isabel and Ezra. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6031 having served as quartermaster, a member of the Arlington Sportsman Club, was active in the United Methodist Church, serving on numerous church committees, was on the Arlington Public Cemetery Board, was retired from the Arlington Fire Department after 22 years and was also in the Bricklayers Union for 53 years. Pete was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, assembling puzzles, and enjoyed following his family in sports events. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Peter Glieden Sr. and Loretta (LaPolice) Harder and sister, Marge Fergusen. He is survived by Wife; Diana of Arlington, Children; Craig (Rita) Glieden of Hutchinson, Kim (Sandy) Glieden of Chaska, Corinne (Greg) Kubal of Minnetonka, Kathie (Cliff) Jones of Scottsdale, AZ, Brother; Mike Glieden of Huchinson, Sister; Lorlie (Ronald) Sickmann of Angels Camp, CA, Brother-in-law; Rodney (Jeanne) Trocke of Fridley, Grandchildren; Robert (Cassie) Glieden, Tom (Jessica) Glieden, Alex, Andrew and Aaron Kubal, Cory, Garett and Carly Glieden, Nieces and Nephews. Casket bearers for the funeral will be the grandchildren. Honorary bearers are; Dr. Lyle and Betty Rud, Harry and Rita Melsha, Ervin and Tina Stangler, Earlyn Sickmann, Earl and Dorothy Brockhoff, and Dale Meyer. Pete was most at peace when he and Diana were in his boat on any lake in Alexandria. Pete is just gone fishing…
