 
            Philomena Haefs, age 90, of Arlington, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Monday April 22, 2013, at St Paul's United Church of Christ in Henderson MN, Rev. Brigit Stevens officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday April 21, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ and one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Brown Cemetery in Henderson. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Philomena was born at home in rural Rice County, MN on November 11, 1922, to John and Emma (Budin) Edel. On July 1, 1947, Philomena was united in marriage to Leland Haefs at St. Paul's Parsonage in Henderson. They made their home on the farm in Kelso Township, where they were blessed with three children. Philomena liked cooking and gardening, and was a former 4H leader as well as a member of the Kelso Homemakers and St. Paul's Women's Guild. Philomena is survived by her children: Rodney (Barbara) Haefs and Robert (Karen) Haefs both of Henderson, Sharon Marshall of Arlington; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother: Ivan (Lois) Edel of Cannon Falls; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Edel of New Prague, Alice Hoefs of Belle Plaine and Adeline Hoefs of LeCenter. Philomena was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leland, 2 brothers: Richard and Alvin Edel and her sister Helen Pesta.
