Quentin L. Heldberg

November 16, 1927 — January 24, 2012

Quentin L. Heldberg, age 84 of Le Sueur, formerly of the Henderson area died on Tuesday morning, January 24, 2012 at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur. Funeral services will be on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Centennial Lutheran Church in Henderson. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the services at church. Interment with military honors will be in Mound Cemetery, Le Sueur. Rev. Robert Hines will officiate the services. He was born on November 16, 1927 to Walter and Alma (Papke) Heldberg in St. Peter, Minnesota. He grew up in the Ottawa area and attended Ottawa Schools. He farmed for a short time on the family farm before entering the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. Following the war he returned home and farmed in the Le Sueur area before marrying Milly Bratsch on Sept. 14, 1952 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter. The couple purchased a farm in Arlington Township, Sibley County in 1955 where they lived until 1999 and then retired to Le Sueur. Quentin was a member of Centennial Lutheran Church in Henderson and served on the church board. He was also a member Henderson School Board, Chair of the Central Livestock Association, founding member of the Henderson Lions Club, member of the American Legion Post #74 and the Minneosta Horse Breeders Association. Two of his greatest passions were draft horses and traveling. He enjoyed having coffee with the guys and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Milly. Daughter,Julie (Dale) Vinkemeier of Henderson, MN; Grandchildren,Ross (Holly) Vinkemeier, Lance (Molly) Vinkemeier, Jared (Kristyn) Vinkemeier, Timothy Heldberg and Gina Heldberg; Great-Grand-Children,Wyatt, Gavin, Hunter & Nicholas; Daugher-in-Law,Jan Tuchtenhagen of Arlington, MN; Brothers,Kermit Heldberg of LeSueur, MN and Daryl (Marva) Heldberg of LeSueur, MN; Aunt, Maxine Schwarz of LeSueur and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Don Heldberg, 2002; Brothers, Bill and Charles Heldberg; sister-in-law, Lucille Heldberg and parents.
