Ramona Marie Edberg

Ramona Marie Edberg, age 88 of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Monday, July 30, 2018. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at Noon on Saturday, August 4 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to Mass, (10am - Noon), at the church on Saturday. Interment will be held at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Belle Plaine. Following the Mass, cake, coffee, and fellowship will be available in the church basement. Ramona was born on March 8, 1930 to James and Susan (Wilson) Dean. She was proud of her eight years of Catholic education and later graduated from Belle Plaine High School. Mona married the love of her life, Harold Edberg on May 28, 1952. Together they raised four children and operated Edberg Construction. Ramona held positions as a secretary in St. Paul, Itasca State Park, Green Giant, Scott County, Belle Plaine Schools, and Daly Tax. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Family was the most important part of her life. Ramona would do anything in her power to help them be successful. She always found the best in family and friends. Mona and Harold were married for over 66 years and were seldom apart. In their earlier years, they enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling. As the children became adults, married and started their own families; Mom and Dad began a tradition of taking their families to Florida every other Christmas. At one time, that consisted of 29 family members. One of Ramona's favorite past times was watching from the deck at Breezy Point as the "little ones" played on the beach. Trips on the Nile River, Africa and several countries in Europe were favorites enjoyed by Harold and Ramona. Ramona is survived by her husband, Harold; children, Dave (Polli) Edberg, Rick (Susie) Edberg, John (Patti) Edberg, and Connie (Tom) Kettler; grandchildren, Kristin (Jeremy) Dorick, Lucas Edberg and special friend Kelsey, Pat (Lynnette) Edberg, Joe Edberg and special friend Bree, Lindsay (Shawn) Kluver, Emily (Aaron) TenEyck, Laura (Nick) Zwick, Katie Kettler and special friend Matt and Megan Kettler and special friend John; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, James and Susan; in-laws, Everett and Ivy (Scott) Edberg; brother, Francis (Diz) Dean; sister, Rosemary (Dean) Strietz; sisters and brothers-in-law; and nephews. Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association.
