Ray A. Yancey, age 85 of Le Sueur, died on Sunday evening, May 5, at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur on Wednesday, May 8, from 4-7 p.m. Interment with Military Honors will be in Mound Cemetery, Le Sueur at a later time. Ray was born on July 9, 1927 to Clifford & Caroline (Lammers) Yancey in Le Sueur. He graduated from Le Sueur High School on May 31, 1945. He entered the United States Army and was discharged on Jan. 30, 1947 receiving a Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. He married Frances Biddle on September 26, 1949. He took pride in his business that he established in 1952, Yancey Body Shop where he worked until recently. He also took pride in his collectible cars. In his middle years he refurbished a 1940 DeSoto. He traveled showing his car with the River Bend Chapter Car Club and won several awards. He also had an extensive coin collection; most of the coins he collected came from the Le Sueur Theater and his great friend Chet Werner. He was also a good cook and was famous around town for his home made baked beans. Most of all, Ray was a dedicated and loving father and husband. He enjoyed his time with his family. Ray is survived his children,Barbara (Joe) Hix of Le Sueur, MN, Peggy (William) Randen of Savage, MN, Michael Yancey of Le Sueur, MN, Twins, Todd Yancey of Waseca, MN & Thomas Yancey of Le Sueur, MN & Chad Yancey of Eagan, MN; 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren and Brother, Clinton of Elk River, MN He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances; brother, John Yancey & sister, Evelyn Schnobrich.
