Raymond Ellsworth Meierbachtol

Raymond E. Meierbachtol, age 81 of Belle Plaine, died on September 11, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Funeral service will be at 11a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Paul's UCC in Henderson. Rev. Brigit Stevens will officiate. His visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Brown Cemetery in Henderson. Ray was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 12, 1931 to Martin and Lucy (Bauleke) Meierbachtol. He lived his entire life in Blakeley Township. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1949. He married Yvonne Schultz on June 30, 1956. They lived in Blakeley Township where Ray farmed and operated Meierbachtol Trucking. Ray enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Belle Plaine Sportsman Club and Scott County Pork Producers. He also served on the Blakeley Township Board for many years. Ray is preceded in death by his parents and wife Yvonne in 2002. He is survived by his children, John & Katie of Belle Plaine, Irene & Brian Grochow of Glencoe Donald & Margaret of Belle Plaine, and Dale & Kim of Belle Plaine, 12 grandchildren, Mindy, Molly, Amanda, Mark, Michael, Adam and Alyssa Meierbachtol, Grant (Allison), Vincent (Chelsie), Quentin (Ashley), Annika (Tanner) Schafer and Gannon Grochow. 6 great grandchildren, Cory, Olivia, Landon, Lillian and Cameron Grochow and Natallie Schafer.
