Richard K. Kiewatt

Richard K. Kiewatt, age 76 of rural LeSueur died on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born on April 18, 1935 at St. Peter to Edward and Mathilda (Schwichtenberg) Kiewatt. He graduated from Mankato High School. He entered the U. S. Army and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. He married Donna Jones on May 29, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. Prior to and after his service in the Army he worked and was part owner in the Mankato Brewery. In 1961 he went into partnership with his father-in-law, Elmer Jones in farming their Ottawa Township farm near LeSueur. He was a member of the LeSueur Saddle Club, Minnesota Horse Breeder's Association. and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a long-time member of the LeSueur United Methodist Church and was a former member of the LeSueur County Fair Board. He is survived by his wife, Donna and sons, Jeff (Teri) Kiewatt of Belle Plaine, Scott (Barb) Kiewatt and Doug (Gina) Kiewatt of LeSueur. Grandchildren, Jeni, Thomas and Elizabeth Kiewatt; Step-grandchildren, Scott (Ali) Genz and Mark Genz, Megan and Charles Abeln; Step-great-grandchildren, Zane, Zoe and Zealand Genz. Sister, Jane (Roger) Hermanson of Mankato and Brother, Carl (Sandra) Kiewatt of Mankato; Sisters-in-law, Mary Kiewatt, Ruth Kiewatt and Edie Kiewatt. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Laura Miller, Emma, Edward, Herman, Maurice and Melvin Kiewatt. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11 a. m. at the United Methodist Church in LeSueur. Rev. Barbara J. Lindgren will officiate. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
