Richard F. Meyer

Richard Frank Meyer , age 85 of Belle Plaine, died on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home. Mass of Chistian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. ~ 11:00 a.m. Military Honors to follow outside the church following Mass. Interment will be at a later time at St. Peter & St. Paul Catholic Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Fr. Brian Lynch will officiate the Mass. He was born on July 30, 1931 in Belle Plaine, Minnesota to Frank and Neoma (Godfrey) Meyer in Belle Plaine, MN. Richard served in the United States Army from July 10, 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in Germany. On September 24, 1955 Richard married Donna Bristol at the St Peter and Paul Church in Belle Plaine. Richard worked for the city of Belle Plaine for many years in the public works department where he later retired. Previous to that he worked in construction and at the milk plant creamery. Also, he was a Parts Runner for Siemon Implement and Belle Plaine Chevrolet. Richard was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed playing cards, pool and was a hilarious jokester. Survived by wife Donna Meyer, siblings Shirley Snipes and Yvonne Kobreek, children Shelly Lenz of Belle Plaine, MN; Kelly Scott (Dan Gebhardt) of Belle Plaine, MN; Daniel Meyer of Belle Plaine, MN & Brad (Kim) Meyer of Gilman, WI. Grandchildren; Jamie Meyer, Shannon Meyer (Aaron Ginter), Shane Scott (Jen Green), Kayla Lenz, Christopher Scott (Emily Fix) and grand dog Eechie, great grandchildren Mckenze Carlson, Hunter Scott, and Amar'e Hoard, and Richards many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Frank and Neoma Meyer, sister Vera Helseth, Brother in laws: Joe Jiracek, Sandy Helseth, Wally Kobreck, Robert Snipes, Nephew, Jason Helseth and his faithful companion Rippy. He will be forever remembered and loved by his family.
