Richard Rose

Richard Rose, age 82 of Arlington died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26th at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be from noon until service time Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is handling the arrangements. Richard was born on November 12, 1934 in Sleepy Eye to Arthur & Lillian (Janisch) Rose. Richard was baptized as an infant. The family moved to New Ulm in 1937 where he attended St. Paul's Lutheran School through the 8th grade. Richard was confirmed in April 1949 and graduated from New Ulm High School in June 1953. Richard worked for the City of New Ulm until he enlisted in the US Navy in 1954. He received a medical discharge in March 1955 and then worked for New Ulm Furniture. On August 22, 1959 Richard married Darlain Soeffker at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington by Rev. J. Bradtke. The family moved to Arlington in 1962 and he found work at the creamery and later started work for Big Stone Canning Company where he worked until his retirement in 1982. Richard enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia and replicas of old trucks, cars and airplanes. He also loved to visit with family and friends. Richard is survived by his children Rick (Lorie) Rose, Jim (Janice) Rose, Darla (Dave) Felmlee, and Tony (Jenny) Rose, all of Arlington, 10 grandchildren Andrew, Jenna, Justin (Angelica), Sammi (fiancé Tyler), Renae (Andrew), Aaron, Marie, Jonathan (Kami), Nathan, and Jackson, great grandson Connor, 4 step great grandchildren Damian, Christian, Isabel, and Olivia, brothers Les (Joann) Rose and Mike Rose, sister-in-law Josephine Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlain, sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth (Howard) Olson, Lorraine (William) Bartz, Betty (Wilber) Schmidt, brothers and sister-in-law Gilbert (Marlene) Rose and Melvin Rose.
