Richard L. Tupy

Richard L. Tupy, age 78 of Le Sueur, formerly of New Prague, died Wednesday evening, October 18, 2017 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, MN. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 23, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur. Visitation will continue on Monday morning, one hour prior to the services. Interment with military honors will be held following the lunch at Czech National Cemetery, New Prague, MN. Pastor Kent Meyer will officiate the services. Richard was born on April 3, 1939 to William R. & Alice (Pinc) Tupy in New Prague, MN. He graduated from New Prague High School in 1957 and joined the United States Air Force shortly after high school. He married Shirley Slayton May 4, 1958 in Wilmington Ohio. Together they had one son, Richard Jr, who died in 1980, Shirley died in 2002. Richard married Lucy (Brenke) Jones on September 24, 2005 at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur, MN. Richard worked many years at Master Specialty, Control Data in Bloomington, MN and lastly at Sheldahl in Northfield, MN. His biggest love and passion was farming on the family farm for many years until his health began to fail. He was a member of the Montgomery Legion and enjoyed auctions, dancing, playing cards, grandkid's activities, and farming. Richard is survived by his wife, Lucy (Brenke Jones) Tupy of Le Sueur; Step-children; Troy Jones of Wisconsin, Joel (Julie) Jones of Le Sueur, Tammy (Jason) Borchardt of Le Sueur, and Nick (Chasity) Jones of Le Sueur. Step-grandchildren; Jordyn Douglas, Taylor Jones, Hunter Jones, Gavin Jones, Alex Borchardt, Mitchell Borchardt, Makenna Borchardt, Samantha Jones and Brianna Jones. Two step-great-grandchildren; Landyn Luke and Letti Luke. Brother, Archie (Pat) Tupy of Webster, MN. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley in 2002, son, Richard Jr. in 1980, and his parents.
