Robert "Arnie" Nicklin, age 78 of Le Center, formerly of Le Sueur, died on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Kolden Funeral Home. Interment will in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Military rites by the LeSueur Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society or Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Arnie was born on January 7,1940 in Oneonta, NY to William and Katherine (Smith) Nicklin. He resided in Oneonta until age 9 when his family moved to Geneva, NY. While at Geneva High School he participated in various activities including student council, and student court. He lettered in four different sports. Outside of school he was active in the BSA and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, he was also Master Counselor of the order of DeMolay. After graduating high school, in 1958, he attended Syracuse University where he participated in Division #1 Lacrosse.. Within two weeks of graduation, in 1962 with a degree in liberal arts, he entered the US army. After completing officers training he was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and honorably discharged in 1968 with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Arnie worked for several electronic companies as VP/General Manager. During these years he attended and graduated from the Columbia Executive Management program. Throughout his life, he lived in several locations including: Brewster, NY, Shortsville, NY, Rockford, IL, Doylestown, PA, Le Sueur, MN and Le Center, MN. In his later years, he needed a change of pace and became a Certified Real Estate Appraiser, where he then owned and operated Statewide Appraisal Company until his retirement. In 1973 he married Margaret Greene and they later divorced. Together they had a son, William and a daughter, Carolyn. Arnie enjoyed his pets and travel until health issues prevented him from doing so. He is survived by his fiancée, Patricia Gregor of Le Center; son, Bill of Geneva, NY; daughter, Carrie (Jason) Gordon of Chaska, MN along with his grandson, Landen Gordon and unborn future grandchild as well as a sister in-law, Lynn Nicklin of Kingston, WA and her family. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Captain/Dr. Charles Nicklin.
