Robert V. Hayden

Robert V. Hayden, age 91, of Le Sueur, died on Thursday morning, November 12, 2015 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Facility in Le Sueur. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 17 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Church in Le Sueur, MN. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. concluding with a 8:00 p.m. K.C. Rosary. Visitation will continue the morning of the Mass at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Following the Mass at St. Anne's, Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Le Sueur, MN. Fr. Andrew Stueve will officiate the services. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials go to the Patrons of St. Anne's Endowment Fund, or a charity of your choice. Robert (Bob) was born on July 12, 1924 to Leo & Nellie (Moore) Hayden in Tyrone Township, Le Sueur County. He grew up in the Le Sueur area attending St. Anne's Schools and graduating from Le Sueur High School in 1941. He farmed with his father until he married Irene Heinzman on August 29, 1945, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, MN. The couple purchased a farm in Tyrone Township, Le Sueur County, where they lived and worked and raised their family. Later on, in addition to farming, Bob sold insurance for National Farmers Union, and became a state supervisor for them. He spent many days of many years on the road, traveling the state to assist other agents. In his quest to see more of the countryside, he tried to avoid taking the same route twice. After leaving Farmers Union, he sold insurance and real estate, locally, for several years. Bob was a founding member of the Dr. LeClerc Council of the Knights of Columbus in Le Sueur, founder of the St. Anne's School Endowment Program, and a member and leader on the St. Anne's Cemetery Association. He especially enjoyed playing cards, spent some time on the golf course, and in his younger years would often be found in a softball game (in his 80s, he still pitched and batted during the family's annual summer get-together). Family, friends, and his church community were very important parts of his life. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Irene; 5 children: Joe (Mary) Hayden of Bloomington, MN, Paul (Renee) Hayden of Benson, MN, John "Jack" (Jill) Hayden of Cedarburg, WI, Louise (Milo) Falk of Minnetonka, MN and Tim (Lori) Hayden of Canby, MN; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great- grandchild, and a sister, Margaret (Dick) McLaughlin of Manitowoc, WI. Bob was extremely grateful for the many people who blessed his life along the way. He will be dearly missed!
