He enjoyed going to movies and also eating at Red Lobster, Applebee's, Charlie's in Mankato and the Le Sueur Diner. Rodney liked to go to auctions and to travel. He enjoyed going up North to Walker, MN, Florida and especially his many fun trips to Branson, MO. When in Branson, he enjoyed seeing impersonators of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley and he even got to meet the man who was Elvis Presley's drummer in his band. Rodney really liked to go to concerts. Over the years, Rodney enjoyed seeing many famous stars that included: John Denver, Conway Twitty, Kenny Rogers, Wayne Newton, B.J. Thomas, Elton John, Bobby Vinton, Barry Manilow, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Everly Brothers, Marty Robbins, Willie Nelson, Daniel O'Donnell, Oak Ridge Boys, Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown, Dolly Parton, Cher, Crystal Gayle, Loretta Lynn, Tanya Tucker and Anne Murray. Over the years, due to failing health, Rodney moved from the family farm to Hillside Court Apartments in Le Sueur, then to the assisted living and next to the nursing home in Le Sueur.
