Roger G. Hespenheide, age 82 of LeSueur and formerly of Belle Plaine died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at his home. He was born on November 2, 1928 in Blakeley Township, Scott County to George and Alta (Brandt) Hespenheide. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School and Blackwood-Davis Business School in Oklahoma City, OK. He worked as an accountant for the Green Giant Company for over 35 years. He worked in Sacramento, CA for a short time spending most of his career in LeSueur. He retired from Green Giant in 1987. He married Shirley Schilman on August 29, 1987 in LeSueur. Roger was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine and had served over 20 years on the Board of Regents of the Lutheran Home Association. He was very active in the LeSueur Lions Club, serving as secretary and was a member of the ISJ-LeSueur Hospice, serving as treasurer. He enjoyed traveling and especially U of M Gopher basketball and football. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Children, Brenda Hahn of Gaylord, Louis (Brenda) Schilman of LeSueur, Delmar Schilman of Jacksonville, FL and Beverly (significant other, Perry Loewe) Morgan of Henderson. 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sister, Ardella (Bob) Fraley of Missoula, MT 1 niece and 1 nephew. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or the LeSueur Lions Club.
