Roger Schneider, age 83 of Arlington passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 5th at St. John's Lutheran Church in Arlington Township. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to service time Thursday at the church. Interment with military rites will be in the church cemetery. Roger Elmer Schneider was born in Arlington Township on November 24, 1932 to Harry and Helen (Nagel) Schneider. He was a 1951 High School graduate. He served in the US Army between March 1953 and March 1955. On June 28, 1969 he married Marie Gibowski at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington. He was a semi-truck driver over his lifetime beginning with his first job with Lawrence Blake, then International Transport, Big Stone Canning Company and retiring in 1993 from Kraft Foods. After retirement he drove school bus part-time for Sibley East Schools. Roger was a member of the Arlington VFW and American Legion as well as being the bell ringer at St. John's Lutheran Church. He helped his brother and nephew working on the farm and assisted at After Burner Auto Body. He loved spending time at "The Ranch" cutting and splitting wood and also being part of the morning crew at Stu's "Shake A Day". Roger is survived by his wife Marie Schneider of Arlington, children Laura Meyer of Marshall, Amy (Leroy) Leonard of Knoxville, TN, and Michael (Jennifer) Schneider of Elk River, grandchildren Anna & Erin Meyer, Taylor VanHout, Adam Leonard, Lincoln & Harry Schneider, siblings Eunice Lueck of LeSueur, and Howard (Helen) Schneider of Arlington, sister-in-law Bernie Whitacre of Forest Lake and several nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents Harry & Helen Schneider, parents-in-law Adam & Anna Gibowski, brothers-in-law Elmer Lueck, Ken Armstrong, Bud Whitacre and nephew Bill Lueck.
