Roger L. Stier

Roger L. Stier, age 79, of Belle Plaine passed away on May 13, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, May 19, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Pr. Diana Hunstad will officiate. Visitation will be 9-11 A.M. prior to the Funeral Service at the church. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.  Memorials are preferred.

Roger was born March 14, 1944 in Shakopee, MN to George and Emma (Gruetzmacher) Stier.  Roger was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church.  On August 8, 1962 Roger was united in marriage to Marie Dressel at St. John Lutheran Church.  Roger and Marie were blessed with four children, Brad, Susan, Brian and Megan.  Roger and Marie lived on the family farm in rural Belle Plaine where he farmed alongside his father George Stier and later took over the family farm.  Roger loved to farm and shared his passion for farming with his family.   Roger’s life was farming and anything John Deere Green.  When Roger wasn’t farming he spent his time fishing, playing cards, traveling, going to tractor pulls, volunteering at the county fair and on the Belle Plaine BBQ Days parade committee, having breakfast at Emma Krumbees, driving around checking the crops, spending time with his family and getting together with his friends.

Roger is survived by his wife, Marie, children, Brad (Jennifer Preston) Stier of Belle Plaine, Susie (Gary) Witt of Belle Plaine, Brian Stier of Belle Plaine, and Megan (Dan) Chard of Belle Plaine, 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, his sister Lila Schmidt of Minnetonka, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma Stier, his brother Donald Stier and sister-in-law Mary Lou Stier, his brother-in-law Donald Schmidt and his grandson Andrew Stier.
