Ronald R. Soeffker, age 81, of Arlington, Minnesota died on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Arlington Good Samarian Center. He was born on September 1, 1929 near Arlington to Ralph and Ella (Fenske) Soeffker. He graduated from Arlington High School and in January of 1951 he entered the U. S. Air Force. He served in Japan and was honorably discharged in October of 1954. Ron married Mavis Harjes on March 3, 1956 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Isle. He owned and operated Soeffker Construction building homes, buildings and developments in Arlington as well as other communities. He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church in Arlington and had served 6 years on the church council. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ron was a former member of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching all wildlife, gardening and sports. He is survived by his wife, Mavis; sons, James and Paul Soeffker and daughter, Rhonda (Mark) Stien all of Arlington; 2 grandsons, Andrew Stien and Jay (Crystal) Stien; brother, Ralph (Ruth) Soeffker of Arlington; 3 sisters, LaDonna Ohland of the Twin Cities, Evangeline (Erwin) Kramer of Gaylord and Mavis Lange of Hutchinson; 2 aunts, Merva Schultz and Bernice Soeffker and an uncle, Gilbert Soeffker; sister-in-law, Diana Kleist and 2 brothers-in-law, Sy Harjes and Richard Harjes. Ronald was preceded in death by a son, Jon and 1 grandson, Matthew Soeffker as well as 4 brothers-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Arlington. Rev. Bruce Hannemann will officiate. Interment, with military honors by the Arlington Honor Guard, will be in the Arlington Public Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the service time on Saturday at the Church. Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington is in charge of arrangements.
