Rose Anna (Adams) Swenson, age 105 of LeSueur died Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Minnesota Valley Health Care Center in LeSueur. She was born on November 1, 1909 in Tyrone Township, LeSueur County to Ferdinand and Ernestine (Boelter) Adams. She was baptized on June 10, 1910 and later confirmed at the Evangelical Reformed Church (now Zion U.C.C.) on April 13, 1924. Rose attended country school and later cleaned and cooked for LeSueur doctors and area farmers. She married Leroy Carl Swenson on February 4, 1931 at the E & R Church. They lived in the Norseland area and helped Leroy's parents with their Nicollet County Nursery. In 1945 they built a house in Lake Prairie Township. They operated a mink ranch and were beekeepers, selling their honey under the brand name of Nicollet County Brand Basswood and Clover Honey. The honey bee operation was such a big part of her life that she often called her family and friends, "honey". Leroy died on June 30, 1965, and Rose continued the bee operation along with her son, Dale. Rose has lived in the MVHC since 2000 and has been a lifetime member of the Zion United Church of Christ and the Martha Circle. Survivors include her daughter, Marian Rose Pfarr-Saxton of Gayord. 8 grandchildren, Belinda Jentz, Dianne (Andre) King, Donna (Charlie) Reiss, Duane (Judy) Swenson, Kristi Muller, Brian (Kristan) Pfarr, Jodi Pfarr and Amy (Bill) Pfarr Walker. 10 great-grandchildren, Amanda, Allison and Abby Muller, Hank and Katie Pfarr, Madison Pfarr Walker and Maceo Pfarr, Tyler and Jaden Reiss and Lydia Swenson. 3 sisters-in-law, Marion Adams, Ruth Adams, and June Swenson (on her husbands side) as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Leroy; sons, Dale and Howard; brothers, Louis, Leo and Ferdinand Adams and infant twin brothers, William and Henry Adams; sisters, Marie (Louie) Jentsch, Martha (Ralph) Buzick, Lillie (Bennie) Gjerde and Emma Adams. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2014 at Zion United Church of Christ in LeSueur. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Scandia Grove Cemetery at Norseland. Kolden Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
